ARA--------------------------On Wednesday, the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Prakrit at Mahant Mahadevanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya organized a departmental seminar. The topic was "Darshan in Jainism: A Transcendental Realm for Public Welfare." The seminar was chaired by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Narendra Pratap Palit. The Principal stated that the purpose of philosophy in Jainism is salvation, a transcendental realm for public welfare, which is achieved through belief in the eternal nature of the soul and the principle of karma. It helps one attain liberation from the cycle of rebirth and an omniscient state, which requires adherence to principles such as non-violence, rigorous austerity, and spiritual purification. Professor (Dr.) Rajiv Kumar, Head of the Department of History, stated that Jain philosophy is an ancient Indian philosophy that focuses on non-violence, karma, and self-liberation. In this, a person is considered the doer and responsible for his or her own actions, and to attain salvation, it is necessary to follow the Three Jewels (Right View, Right Knowledge, and Right Conduct). Dr. Smita Kumari, Head of the Department of Philosophy, stated that Jainism believes in the eternal nature of the soul and that actions determine a person's future rebirth. Dr. Kumari Shilpa, Head of the Prakrit Department, stated that the ultimate goal of Jainism is to attain salvation by breaking all karmic bonds through rigorous austerity and spiritual purification. Dr. Sudha Niketan Ranjani, Head of the Hindi Department, stated that Jainism provides guidance on achieving supernatural powers, allowing one to free oneself from the cycle of birth and death and attain salvation. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Smita Kumari, Head of the Department of Philosophy. Dr. Kumari Shilpa, Head of the Prakrit Department, delivered the vote of thanks. The best paper was awarded a certificate and a prize. All the students participated enthusiastically in the seminar and expressed their views. All of them were honored with certificates and prizes.
